Kick-Ass #8

The story picks up where the least one left off. The first page we see a group of thugs in the hallway of the Genovese's apartment. Kick Ass & Hit Girl are in the elevator going up and she sniffs some strange chemical compound her father left her to use in case of any emergencies. The goons fire into the crack of the elevator door but hit no targets. Hit girl pops out of the elevator with a flame thrower in hand to teach them a lesson for her father and kick asses genitals. Hit Girl lets kick ass know where Red Mist is hiding from the floor plans and he heads off to finish some business. The next few pages are violently beautiful which leads up to a great splash page with Hit Girl. This was an awesome issue and its was not watered down because of them getting ready for the Movie release. Actually it has a movie style ending which was great. I would say to get out and read this issue even if you didnt read the previous issues. If not find someone who has it and tell him you need to have a few min's with it to see what the hype was about. I totally recommend this one!

The Dark Insider

I know it has been a while since we reviewed any comics. Having just two issues to read and review we decided to update the blog which has been left alone due to the lack of comments on the site. See we did not fell nor do we still feel like anyone is actually reading our reviews and getting any use out of them. So we posted these reviews to see if anyone will take a gander and make any comments. As we stated that we are welcome to comments and suggestions of titles that we are unfamiliar with. We will try to review a few more titles and get back on track should we see some changes in visitor traffic. However if we do not then Joe will probably be the last review we post. This is an expensive hobby and a time consuming one when trying to help other comic fans find titles they have not heard of before. For anyone who has read this blog and found it insightful we appreciate your support and hopefully we can continue to unbiased with our reviews and suggestions.

Joe The Barbarian #1

Joe and his Mother are in a car. As he doodles in his sketch book his mother asks him if he actually wants to go on his class trip to the veterans cemetery. While sitting in front of his dead fathers grave letting him know he sucks. A group of bullies show up off the us to push Joe around. The trip ends and Joe is dropped off at his house by the bus driver. As he exits one bully bellows out "We Know Where You Live". Now home Joe walks through the house to see if his mother is home. Realizing that he is by himself he heads upstairs to feed his mouse. As he starts to doze off he talks to himself and hears a response from someone. Getting up from his bed to see who or what that response was, his room starts to spin and is suddenly on another planet. Snapping out of what he thought he dreamt Joe looks over at the time and reaches for his insulin shot, thinking he forgot to take it. The premise of this story seems interesting for a mini series. A kid who's fantasy realm he dreams up comes to life. This I would recommend just because it something we can all relate to in our childhoods. Hopefully this mini series is interesting and enjoyable as this issue was.

Anna Mercury #2

This issue starts off with Anna in a gun fight with some man that is on a ship, which seems to be getting electrocuted. Two pages in is a wonderfully drawn splash page of Anna leaping out of the broken window. As she falls through the sky she lands on top of the flying ship carrying the Viking man she was electrocuting. As the ship flies out of control they battle it out. The Viking man has his life ended suddenly by Anna in a rather grotesque way. Thinking that all is well another Viking warrior comes out of somewhere on the ship to fight. When everything is said and done she takes control of the ship, crashes it into a building and reports back to the office. There she gets reprimanded by her superior and gets informed that she will be gaining a partner. Now as usual I will say that the issue was a good read with the small sexual jokes and wonderful artwork. However it did not have the same pizzaz the first issue I read had. I would say pass on this title, and only read it if you are bored while in the comic shop.

The Goon #33

A man sits on a school bus staring at pictures. The scene changes to a strange looking kid holding a duck by his throat. The Goon walks down the street as people start to bother him. The story has no word balloons they are all picture thoughts. Goon is with Frankie at the bar. This group of panels is rather funny despite no words the Goon tell him as Frankie sits that he smells of fish. An old woman mourns in the back of the bar as a young woman tries to hit on the Goon. That turns out poorly for her so instead she turns her attentions to Frankie. The homely looking man from the bus gets off and shows a picture of the woman in the bar to another woman. Finding her in the bar is pulls out a revolver and fires away. The Goon then steps in to save her. This issue was great, reading it reminded me of the old silent films. It was nice to piece the dialogue together with your own imagination. I would recommend this comic to buy only if you are a fan of the Goon. If not at least look at how the art portrays the story.

Justice League #5 - Cry For Justice

Kory and Donna are in the home of a woman named Ms. Baker. Being grateful for letting them stay in her home their brief discussion is interrupted by the door bell. Standing outside the door is Bill looking to speak with Buddy. They try to convince him that they want to bring Prometheus to justice with the help of the Justice League. The scene shifts to the League arguing about Prometheus, until they decided to calm down and listen to what Batwoman has to say. Shade still sits in Jay's house letting him know of his findings regarding Prometheus's plan, until he is paged by Atom. Finally an issue of this story line I can say was bad. It just didn't have that extra something the other previous issues had. I can finally say pass on by this issue save your money and time for something better to read.

Hulk #17

The story picks up with Hulk being double crossed by Samson and the Red She Hulk. Standing there bleeding they decided to tell him that he will die just like any other normal person. He tries to reason with Deadpool and the others, informing them that what they are doing is a mistake. Things turn on Samson as the Hulk gains his vision back and everything starts to shift in the favor of the Hulk. The She Hulk tries to battle it out with him taking the fight from the Subway tunnels to the tops of the skyscrapers. Hulk gets kicked off the top of a skyscraper plummeting to the ground where he meets with Elektra. She helps him find the info he needs to gather by seeing someone who knows about what is going on. The story plays out well into the Fall of The Hulks Story line that is coming up. I would recommend picking this one up or reading it that way you are not left out of the loop when Fall of The Hulks kicks off.

Gotham City Sirens #6

The story picks up with Harley in deep water with Gaggy. Harley tries to use reverse psychology to get him to untie her. Which does not work out totally in her favor. As Ivy and Selina escape from their traps. Gaggy drags Harley to Mr. J's old hideout. While they are in the old sanctuary Gaggy gives Harley a little insight into his past. Seline and Ivy finally make it through the wall where Gaggy is holding Harley to give him a piece of their minds. The story ends with something to snicker at. As I said before this is something to pick up only if you have read the previous issues. If not then I would not recommend this to you readers. It was a very good issue for the followers of this story line.

Blackest Night #5

The Seven Corps have united to try and take down Nekron. On the planet Ryut we are informed about the Guardians background, how they were from the planet Maltus where life began. We get a nice splash page with each Lanterns chant. Well everyone except Larfleez he sits there bewildered by what is going on. As the scenery changes back to Earth we see Flash trying to get to Nekron. Wally appears to try and help Barry out with his current situation, and he brought some friends along to help. Bart gets into the mix to inform Wally and his Grandfather about Dove being invulnerable to the Black Lanterns power. The last few pages of this story get really intense. A big surprise occurs even with the Seven Corps being there. This is one issue you do not want to miss. I totally recommend picking up this issue it is Amazing!

Green Lantern #48 - Blackest Night

Okaara is the world we are on in the beginning of this story. We see some of the Orange Lanterns battling it out with the Black Lanterns. Larfleeze continues the onslaught until the Green Lantern and others show up to aide him in his fight. Larfleeze argues with the two Guardians about what caused the Black Lanterns to his planet. As they finally subdue Atrocitus he breaks free trying to attack the other Lanterns. Larfleeze also breaks free of Sinestro's hold and attempted to take something that cannot be given. They hear a calling to Hal as they shift to another planet Ryut, home of Atrocitus. The colors of light have finally united by the end of this story you are already anticipating the next issue. I would recommend picking this up if you have been following the story line.

Nomad #3 - Girl Without A World

We see Rikki trying to make her way through the crowd of the school. She is trying to get a hold of John to speak with him. A student named Matthew Surman is in the secret area speaking with a hooded man about Rikki. As she helps save some children from a drug dealer, Rikki jumps around town on rooftops until she comes to a particular home. The home of Desmond Daniels. This is where she encounters the hooded man from earlier in the story. She encounters Mad Dog who knocks her out unconscious. This issue was not a good as the last it seems to be long winded and dragged out with the premise of the student body president. You come to finally find out who is behind it all but when you do it is kind of a let down. I would pass on this issue just because the story line seems to be dying since it is close to the last issue. It is a shame I thought it would end better.

Fall Out Toy Works #2

The story picks up where the last one left off, with everyone in the lab. The Toy Maker is refusing to speak with Mr. Baron after months of failure. After a year of tests things have still not progressed for the Toy Maker. As the story continues we get a wonderful splash page with a man perched on the side of a building looking out onto the city. A passing train passes through the city if this scene. The Toy Maker sits at a bar drinking away his frustration. As he converses with the flying robot why love can not be implanted artificially. The gentleman sitting next to him jumps into the conversation and mentions something that sparks an idea for the robot. Toy Maker heads off to see a Rabbi he knows who he thinks can help with bringing his idea to life. The story continues to be an interesting one and it plays off very well to a nice cliffhanger making you wish there was more to read. I would recommend this issue.

Superman/Batman #66 - Blackest Night

A spark from space tears through the sky over the city and into a lifeless corpse in the water. Solomon Grundy is risen from his fallen resting place. Gotham City is the next setting where the Man-Bat is hanging from an arch way of a bell tower. A S.H.A.D.E team tries to capture him quietly which does not turn out exactly how they planned it. The streets have people frantic, one group sees Superman or so they think. Bizarro turns around which frightens them all away. He decides to look for some enemies as he calls them. Finding Kirk trying to change back to human thanks to Francine.Bizzaro decides to take him away up into the air. Solomon Grundy shows up to try and destroy them. In the chaos Man-Bat heads back to Francine to see about the cure. This story feels very short and because of this I would not recommend purchasing this issue. However if you see it and want to read it I would say it is worth the free time.

Hellblazer #261 - India - Part One

A man sits in his room staring at a painting of Queen Victoria, drinking his sorrow away. As he rants to the painting of the Queen he is startled by a tribal man. The man is appalled by the sight he is now faced with. The man tells him that his pale children do not belong there. The artwork of the tribesman at the bottom of the page is great. Something that reminds me of the art from black light posters it really pops. The scene then changes to John walking down a crowded street in India. A woman runs through the street frantically from some sort of demon, the police are to find her lifeless body lying in the alley where the murder happened. Constantine stops by to see someone named Charlie who hopes can help cleanse him and give him a turbo pass to spiritual enlightenment. The story line really captivates you wanting to know more, where things are going from here when you get to the end of the book. I would recommend picking up this issue if you see it on your local shelves it is worth it.

The Amazing Spider-Man #612 - The Gauntlet

This story opens up with images of the Sandman, Rhino, Mysterio in different panels. Electro sits in a diner with a woman trying to enjoy his drink. As the woman reaches towards him she spills his drink, which in turn gets herself deep fried. After he makes his escape we see Spidey web slinging through the streets of NY. Electro gives us a little insight into his past how he became who he is. The setting then shifts to Electro in a lab with a man named Thinker. They are discussing how he can help Electro and what it would cost to do so. The conversation enrages him, he then heads out to get a paper when he comes across a story that gets him even more riled up. It is nice to see how they incorporated the current dismal financial times within the story. This was an interesting story, however if you are not ready to read about the current financial times because you are currently going through the rough waters due to it. Then I would stay away from this issue, even though it is fiction just seeing Wall Street even get their name mentioned may leave a sour taste in some mouths. With that being said it is a good enough read but not good enough to buy. I would check it out but not enough to give Disney/Marvel my money for it.

Deadpool #17

Cessily is on the phone with her dad in the opening page of this issue. Her father chooses to be stubborn and because of this Cyclops tries to inform he about his situation. Being misconstrued by Scott's conversation things do not go according to plan. Deadpool shows up and ends the live broadcast. Domino shows up to get things under controls and tricks Deadpool to go back to her hotel room. After she informs Scott about how she has Deadpool under control, Scott stops Wolvie and gives him a mission. Domino foils up Scott's plans for Logan & Pool, which causes them to try and save Kincaid. If you have been following this story line then I would recommend buying this issue, however if not then I would recommend only reading this in your local shop. This is an enjoyable read but I know I don't like picking up an issue at the end of a story arc.

Locke & Key - Crown Of Shadows #1

The opening recaps of the previous story. The story of a man who was murdered by Sam Lesser. Tyler lies in bed sleeping as his mother wakes him up to inform him about leaving to Provincetown. They converse about someone they know being in a car accident, and the nightmare his mother has about Sam Lesser. As Tyler's mom tries to drink her sorrows away he attempts to console her. We see the spiritual form of Sam Lesser sitting on the side of the house as another strange spirit comes to speak with him. The ghost starts to rattle up Sam's spirit and a few pages in they get into a bit of a tussle. Things get confusing as we try to figure out what the other ghost wants. It is nice to see this story carried on into this new story line. I would recommend checking out this issue if you see it on your local comic shelf.

The Walking Dead #67

No that we are done with the cannibals that were stalking our survivors. Rick looks down onto the pasture. Looking down at this town he sees people moving in the distance. Rick & his son take a moment to converse about the killing of Ben, and Rick gives his son some heart to heart advise. It is a very touching moment for this title. Something the art portrays very well even if there was no dialogue. Rick confronts Eugene about the radio since they are close to Maryland. The two of them get into a scuffle. Rick comes to find out there is no battery in the radio, and after Eugene emits the truth Abraham loses it. As Rick and Abraham talk by themselves something surprising happens at the end of this issue. This was something really intriguing that after the emotional moment kept you reading to the end. Now left with a cliffhanger I can't wait to find out what happens next for Rick and the rest of the survivors. If you see this on the stand I would recommend picking this up.

R.E.B.E.L.S #10 Blackest Night

Stealth recaps about how she met Vril Dox son of Brainiac and how the L.E.G.I.O.N was born in the first page. When the download is complete we are re-introduced to Black Lantern Stealth. Virl is conversing with Adam Strange and Captain Comet on Voorl about the Black Lanterns. Getting back to the subject at hand they turn their attentions to Starro who they have come to try and capture. Lyrl comes up with a plan to meet with Starro which backfires and turns him into Brainiac version 3. Out of nowhere as Vril is heading into space his ship is attacked and Stealth shows up to rip the hearts out of Starro's goon trying to attack Vril's ship. A nice little twist happens at the end of this issue. I have never read this title before but I must say it was a better read than Booster Gold. However I would not waste my money on this title either. If you can read it at your local shop I would advise doing so if you are interested.

Supergod #1

First let me inform you readers that there are three different covers to the introductory issue. The one I happen to like best is the three headed Alien sitting on a throne sketch best. Dr. Simon Reddin is sitting on some stairs in front of a fire trying to get a hold of someone through his PDA. The page turns into a splash page with London burning down to the ground. As Dr. Reddin smokes a marijuana cigarette he explains to Tommy about what the British accomplished. He continues on about their secretive space shuttle launch during the space race era. As all of Ellis's work this is not a read for the children with some of the things he conveys to us readers. The story goes on as we see the introduction of a space mishap which creates a deity, as the Doctor complains about the Indian's development of a superhuman being. This story gives us insight into the different superhuman deities that certain nations developed with their own agenda in mind. This was an intriguing read that I think is worth spending the money on if you happen to find this title in your local comic shop.

Booster Gold #26

Someone givves us a brief recap on who Michael Jon Carter is, and how Booster Gold came to be. When the recap ends the rising of Ted Kord begins. We then shift to Arizona where Dr. Hunter is trying to find out from Skeets where booster is. A few pages in we see Booster at the funeral of Ted Kord accompanied by some of the other DC superheroes. Skeets goes to find the Blue Beetle to see if he has heard anything from Booster. Ted Kord crashes his ship into Dan Carter's house. I never really got interested in who this character is and sorry to say I still do not find him interesting enough for me to read. On that note if you are a Booster fan then I believe you may want to buy this issue. However if you are not and you are following the Blackest Night story line. I would pass on this title there is nothing really interesting going on that will be a big deal so far with the story arc.

Punisher Max #1 King Pin

We open up to see the Punisher torturing someone to get some information. The man tries to put up a fight but thats turns to his disadvantage. The scene then changes with a group of mobsters having a meeting discussing about the Punisher. Rigoletto converses with them further informing them he has found the perfect individual to kill the Punisher. We get a great scene when Mr.Fisk squeezes a henchman's head until his eyes pop right out of his skull. The story shifts back and forth between the meeting and the Punisher showing up. This was a great issue to introduce the back story of the Kingpin. This is definitely an issue to purchase the story line is worth the money.

Batman & Robin #6

Red Hood has captured the dynamic duo, stripping them out of their costumes. In doing so he has set up a telethon to see if people are happier with the Red Hood's way of justice. If so they can call in and see the true faces of Batman & Robin if they hit one million callers. Through the broad cast shot are fired and Flamingo shows up getting in a tussle with Hood 7 Scarlet. The next few pages get pretty violent with someone getting shot in the back and being paralyzed from the waist down. Now I must say this character Flamingo I don't really see the need for him. He is just a pastel colored version of the Joker only with who is not as methodical. Don't get me wrong the Joker does have moments when he is sporadic. But what makes him such an intriguing character is his insanity. I hope Morrison does not bring this character up more in other issues. I think he is someone we can live without. Now this issue was not as good as the last, and because of this I would not recommend purchasing this issue. If you have the chance to read it in your local shop it is worth taking a gander at.

Hellboy - The Wild Hunt #8

Hellboy roams through the castle looking for Alice. He comes up on a dusty room with a skeleton lying on the bed. He then reflects on why he did not pull the sword from the rock . He is told he needs to stop worrying about the negative things mentioned about him, that his future does not have to be so bleak. Once pulling the sword from the stone the scenery is no longer dismal. It changes to a day lit scene and finds Alice. A gentlemen's club gets wind of what Hellboy has done, one of the members decides to kill a few of the others. In doing so he sticks to the original plan set forth to him by the spirit Larzod. The plan of the seven original men seeing the new king fall, to cut off his right hand and rise to a greater power. This was still an interesting read. I thought it was worth reading but if you are not a fan of this character it will not be worth buying.

Ultimate Spider-Man #4

Mary Jane and a coworker of hers are leaving the Queens mall. As they are trying to head home she is stopped by her manager Brad. As Brad tries to gain the courage to ask her out, they are rudely interrupted by a man in a car holding a gun. As Brad is told to run along the man in the car is getting hostile with M.J. He is trying to get her to take a ride with them when an individual in a red hooded cloak drops onto their car. The cloaked individual destroys the car. After all is said and done the mysterious person tells M.J. she should head home. The Mall cops show up to see what had happened in the parking lot. We get a guest appearance from the Hulk on the Queensborough Bridge. The story is still playing out well but I am eager for them to let us know if the other person is the Red Hood or not. I would recommend this issue to read. It is worth the money and better than that Deadpool comic I read before.

Deadpool Team Up #899 Guest Starring Hercules

Deadpool wakes up in a crib from a nightmare. Getting up from his nightmare he heads to his refridgerator and starts to converse with himself. He comes to the conclusion that he will try to locate the place where his nightmare happens. In doing so he is greeted by the Incredible Herculers. The two of them battle it out as Hercules is trying to find his way out of the place. Arcade is the one who sets the trap for them to wander around aimlessly with the help of Nightmare. The stroy goes on with Deadpool & Herc facing their fears. However this is not really an enjoyable read. It is rather winded and I would not recommend spending money for this title. Your money will be best spent elsewhere.

Doom Patrol #4 - Blackest Night

I have never been a big fan of Doom Patrol but when I saw the blackest night issue I decided to take a chance. A cemetery mausoleum smokes from being hit by something. An individual is reminiscing over the past, a life once lost. Arani Desai is the person being risen from he permanent slumber. Niles sits in his lab exchanging messages on his computer in regards to the Lanterns. Arani walks in to surprise Niles and shows him her affection towards him. This comic is heavy with the dialogue. The little instant message bubbles do not make it any better. This is a drab tiring read. Unless you are a true Doom Patrol fan I would pass this title by. Even if you are following every Blackest Night issue. Save your money for something better.

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep #5

A fog filled evening. A decimated church to the left of the scene buildings in the background. Inside we see a man with a blue smock walking to another two individuals. Discussing about what just happened regarding the cat, it upsets the man with the locked hair. The man with the locked hair (Mr. Sloat) makes one of his employees (Isidore) contact the owner of the android animal via vidphone. That generates unsettling nerves in Isidore. While calling the home of the owner to Isidore's surprise the wife answers the call making the conversation between the two of them a complex one until Milt steps in to help the situation.This is a very good read if you like the work of Philip K. Dick. However if you have not followed the series from the first issue until now you may find this issue rather strange and bewildering. I would not suggest picking up this issue if you have not read the previous ones.

Hulk #16

The story picks up with the Red Hulk being blinded by Wolverine & the Red She Hulk showing up. Holding a gun to the back of Logan's head she thinks she has the upper hand. The She Hulk tries to antagonize Wolverine until he snaps and takes the offensive. Punisher joins in and puts one shotgun shell to Logan's chest knocking him down temporarily. A mysterious man shows up letting Logan go to search for Domino and Elektra. As the Red Hulks disappear into the subway system. They converse and the Hulk after gaining his vision back finds out he is in quite the predicament. Next issue is the conclusion of this story which has been an enjoyable one. I would recommend this issue, since it is not tied into the Dark Reign plot it is a nice take on something else going on in this universe.

The Last Days of American Crime - Preview

I know this is a preview issue but it is worth reviewing. It starts off with a man lying on the floor in a pool of his own blood as a gun is pressed to the side of his head. The story then flashbacks two weeks earlier. The same man is walking down the street being harassed by junkie prostitutes with a ten gallon gas can he's carrying. He walks into this seedy looking building lined with individuals who are strung out. He proceeds upstairs to a hovel of an apartment occupied by a man who is gagged and tied up lying in a bath tub. The man is struggling as he gets gasoline poured all over him. After they talk the man in the tub is given a cigarette to hold until it burns out. Otherwise he will light himself on fire. The story is so simple it is compelling followed by some amazing illustration by Greg Tocchini. Lets hope writer Rick Remender can keep the fans interested. It seems like there is something very worth while here when this title kicks off in November.

Invincible Presents: Atom Eve & Rex Splode #1

A big city is the location. A farmers market is the setting. As people stop to purchase some fruit a kid runs through the crowd with a shirt full of microwavable noodle cups. He is abruptly stopped by some strange metallic ball that explodes in front of him. A large black man stops him to speak for a moment. After finding out what he wanted about the boy he shows up at his run down house. This is how we meet Rex and the issues in his life. After making Rex's parents who give him up for a generous amount of money we see Radcliffe the large man bring him back to the government mansion where he will be residing. After months of training we see Rex on an operating table with his arms cut open. After the procedure Radcliffe gives Rex a costume and has him steal and kill some people for him we find out. After Rex gets orders of a new mission he second guesses, he goes out where a man gets thrown in front of his scooter by Atom Eve. I actually got the the end of this issue thinking there was more to read but alas I have to wait until the next one. This is a very interesting and good read. Lately I have been up & down with some of Kirkman's work but this is worth the money. I would recommend this title.

Abe Sapien - The Haunted Boy

We see an ice skate floating in a frozen pond. A woman cries for her child who is lost in the cold depths. Abe is called into Broom's office to review the case of the boys in Vermont who fell into the pond. Abe heads off to Vermont to speak with the woman about her son. While getting there he also meets the woman of the other child who survived. Asking to speak with her son he is coldly turned away by the boy. He continues his search and finds what he is looking for. This is a simple plot for a good character. It is concise and to the point, you are not mis-deirected in different directions to offer a good story line. All in all this is a great read but since this seems like a stand alone issue it is not really worth the $3.50.

Arkham Reborn #1

The story starts off in front of the famous Asylum. They day has come when the Asylum finally reopens. This reintroduction also has Bruce Wayne as one of the individuals there for the reopening. Jeremiah Arkham shows them the new building and to me the design of the building reminds me of the house from "House on Haunted Hill". The doctor calls for his new assistant to sit in on his first therapy session with the Raggedy Man. After interviewing with his first patient he then interrogates his new assistant about her past which frustrates her. She devises a plan that will surely upset the new head doctor of Arkham. We are introduced to some other characters that make this issue seem as it will be a rather interesting three issues. Now would I recommend purchasing it? Not really unless you have extra money you are willing to spend. Would I recommend reading it? Sure if your local comic shop allows you too, it is worth a view.

Titans #3 - Blackest Night

Donna is still being haunted by the thoughts of her dead family trying to kill her. Gar, Vic, and Kory are still being tormented at the hands of Tara and the other Lanterns. The fighting continues for a few pages and we see Donna rip through Terry's chest, and squish her already dead babies head to eliminate them from her presence. After Gar turns into a bear and tears Tara into two pieces we then see Dove show up to lend a hand. As they become cornered Dove can't take the lies spewing out of her dead sisters mouth. Something happens and Dove causes the remaining Lanterns termination. This issue was great and now the Titans will be joining the fight with the other heroes. This is a buy it is worth the read just to see someone else take care of the Black Lanterns besides the other Lantern Corps.

Gotham City Sirens #5

We pick up were we left off after the Joker sent an exploding car to kill the ladies. Ivy and Selina are furious as they start to develop a plan against the clown prince. Selina sends in for someone to fix her apartment as they head out to find the Joker's hideout. Finding out where he is they decided to drop in. The jokes on him when he thinks he has the upper hand since he knows they are there. After they have him in their midst, another surprise occurs when they find out the Joker they've cornered is a fake. This series still is a delight and with the little twist it was worth picking up. However if you have not read this title from the beginning then I wouldn't recommend this issue.

Grimm Fairy Tales - Halloween Special #1

Obviously Halloween is the day and setting for the premise of this issue. We see some children trick or treating in their neighborhood in the afternoon. They ring the doorbell to this hose and a very seductively dressed witch opens the door. She invites the children into the house after they ask her is this is a haunted house. The evil woman from issue #42 is in the back of the house over a cauldron preparing something to eat. The witch has the children sit down as she starts to read a story from the book one of the children returned to her. She starts to read the story of the monkey's paw to the children. When she finished the story the children looked horrified sitting and staring at her. This issue has a funny twist at the end of the story. This was a nice Halloween treat that I think could not have come from a better company to tell it. I would recommend this title, and even if you don't purchase it at least give it a read.

New Avengers #58

Osborn has captures Cage. Ares and Ms. Marvel are carrying back through the valley of armed guards. The next instant Osborn sees that Carol Danvers is on the run. He bursts into flight to try and catch her. We see Daken, Ares, & Venom track down the Avengers into the sewer and a battle breaks loose. Going through some heavy dialogued pages we see Cage on the operating table of the helicarrier, as they try to help him out. This issue was a uncomfortable read. It just seems that this Norman Osborn takeover is getting drawn out for me. I personally think this needs to end. Its longwinded. I miss the other villains of this universe who we are not seeing in any of the other issues really because of H.A.M.M.E.R. I would not recommend this issue it is boring and just simply not an enjoyable read.

Northlanders - The Plague Widow #1

A.D. 1020 a woodland forest is the setting. A bloody hand print marks a tree as we look at the snow covered countryside. We hear a little about the sickness that came with the winter's snow. We are then taken to the settlement, to a woman's house named Hilda. Her husband lies on a bed dying. A man named Boris speaks to a crowd trying to let them know that the plague is not the work of a higher power but that of science. The town meets in the great hall to discuss the precautions necessary to avoid spreading this plague further. When Hilda comes home she is informed by her daughter that her father has passed away. Hilda forces her daughter to kiss her father goodbye thinking her ulterior motive will work out. There is a violent battle scene between the healthy and the sick as they are forced out of the settlement. This comic was something interesting I would not recommend it to the everyday comic book enthusiast who enjoys mostly super hero characters. Although if you are looking for something out of the ordinary then Northlanders still happens to be a nice retreat from the spandex and villains we are use to. If you have some extra spending money and want something a little different this story seems to be something that could get very interesting.

Blackest Night #4

Washington, D.C. is the setting for this issue. We pick up were we left off with the Black Lantern Hawkman taking on the Flash & Mera. They seem to be in a bad situation that is going to get worse being surrounded by numerous Lanterns wanting to kill them. Things get out of hand and we change setings to Gotham City. We see Azarel turned into a Lantern. He is attacking people and comes up on Scarecrow who is not frightened or deterred by the sight of him. Flash has a little one to one with Mera, & Atom. An inspirational moment if you will to get them more motivated to defending the planet. The panels jump from city to city to show the carnage that is going on elsewhere, and we finally get introduced to the Lord of the Black Lantern Corps. This issue is a non stop ride that is entertaining down to the very end. I would recommend purchasing this issue.

Batman #692

Gotham City. Batman is holding someone with a mask on his face over what seems to be a river. Batman is hunting down Black Mask. He is lead to Devil's Square from the coordinates the man in the mask gave him. After speaking with Gordan about how Mask is brainwashing these people, he heads back to setup a meeting with Selina. We are introduced to Dr. Death by the Black Mask who in my perspective is a knock off of the Scarecrow. The story plays out to show us someone else who was thought to be long gone from Gotham. The story kind of dribbles away to the point you are trying to get to the end because of it being long winded. I would pass on this issue.

X-Force #20

The story picks up in Utopia. Domino and Wolverine are conversing about what happened to X-23. We then see X-23 talking with Agent Morales, they are discussing her current situation and how she could not handle the numerous guards in her current state. The next few pages get action packed with X-23 surprising the guards with her new weapons she rigged. The story jumps to Archangel in Colorado and back to the facility where X and Morales are, until she meets with Kimurai where things get interesting. The art from Choi and Oback are what gets me wanting to read this title as soon as it comes out. However this is a very good read it is not a definite buy. If you are in your local shop and have time to take a gander at this issue I would recommend it.

Green Lantern #47 - Blackest Night

This story opens up with a Black Lantern fighting the other Lanterns in

Ysmault. The Black Lanterns that are terrorizing this planet look like the monsters in Dead Space. The Crimson Lantern leading the fight converses with the strange Black Lantern leader. The conversation ends abruptly as the Lantern tears his heart from his chest. The scene then changes to Hal fighting Abin back on Korugar. The different Lanterns that are on Korguar focus their powers to vanquish the Black Lanterns that are there. Things jump from planet to planet as you continue through this issue. It end rather well and is something worth reading. It is not a definite buy but definitely worth reading.

The Stuff of Legend: Volume 1 - Book 2

We pick up were the last story left off. We are in the Black Forest and the Boogyman's armies are looking for the Colonel's followers. They reconvened at Ebbets Falls in the Black Forest to converse with Percival about what happened to the Colonel. Max has a few words with Percival about how he is acting, which does not please Percival. Our heroes head to a new setting the town of Hopscotch. Their we see the Gingerbread man who seems very nervous about the game he is engaged in. Things take a turn for the worse for the Jester as this strange town imprisons him. Max and the rest are forced to relinquish their weapons and engage in this game by force. Max gets rowdy in the Mayors quarters which causes him to go to the hangman's square. In order to save him they must make a wager which Percy does using one of the boys rare coins. The story plays out well and leaves you wanting more. This is still once again the hidden gem. If you have read the last book then this is a buy. If you did not read the last book I would still recommend purchasing this book. It is a fantastic story line that really has no competition with its originality. Truly the best read I anticipated for all month.

Cowboy Ninja Viking #1

The North Indian Ocean is the setting for the beginning of this book. We are on a boat looking for a poisonous fish with an Oceanographer named Garreth Crittenden. He is filming a television show out in the North Indian Ocean. After the foul mouthed oceanographer finishes finding out he is in the wrong ocean and searches for a dangerous snail. The two boatman tell Garreth to get in the zodiac raft. Afterwards the boat they were on explodes as the float away. The scenery then changes to San Francisco where we see a man on top of a building. The man's name is Duncan and he is surrounded by some individuals who are trying to converse with him about something. The story continues to jump like a bad movie I understand it is suppose to be strange. Having based this character as someone with a schizophrenic disorder but it tends to be mind numbing. I heard this sold well and I can't seem to understand why. I would not recommend this issue at all. It was an excruciatingly painful read.

Hulk #1 - Dark Reign: The List

We start off with a brief reflection on what has happened in Bruce Banners life. Norman Osborn is now interested in Banner's alien powered ex-girlfriend for some reason. Ms. Hand has Banners girl friend in a science lab trying to extract her power in order to use as a tool for defending the country. Bruce makes a surprise entrance to save his ex. Thirty seven hours later Ms. Hand meets with Osborn to inform him the other facilities are locked down. Osborn then draws up a plan to deal with the Hulk. Osbon's plan works out accordingly and things seem like they will get interesting in the next issue. Now despite this being a worth while read personally I am a little tired of the Dark Reign stuff as well as the X-Men war that is about to unfold. Between Marvel with their constant wars and DC with their Saga I would like to just read something that is not going to tie in with another story. So I would recommend reading this in your local shop but not wasting your money on picking it up. Save then cash for something that is not your typical Superhero hyped comic.

Tony gets pistol whipped in the first panel of this issue. We then see him enjoying a nice doggie meal. After he enjoys his several week old dog snack. He is now the last cibopath employed in the U.S.F.D.A and his life is about to change. The next page back tracks the story for us as they raid this warehouse and a gun fight breaks out between the guys in the warehouse and the F.D.A police. As things cool down Chu gets to finding out what is behind the vault door. After opening it to his surprise he finds his brother Chow tied up in the middle of a chicken filled vault. Tony gets saved by Mason and the blood that splashes on Tony informs him of the actions that man took in the mutilation of the missing agent. We get a twist in this issue with a surprising fight to go along. I know there have been issue I did not recommend due to the dull story line. This however is not one of them. This issue was absolutely "AMAZING" if this story continues on the path I hope it is going, then I see this title having a very healthy run like the Walking Dead. If you have not read this issue yet I would recommend running out to get this issue. If you are not reading this title yet I would suggest checking it out.

Resurrection - Book 2: Chapter Four

July 28, 2007 is the setting for this story. Two men are getting ready for Evacuation Day with they look over this beaten woman who is lying on the floor. It turns out to be a trap she was rigged with explosives to allow the gang of villains in this truck crash through the sanctuary of the men. Things jump from day to day and year to year. It is a interesting premise however it could be a little confusing to some people. We have a mystery going around why people want to break into this bank vault. Finding out that something horrible happened back in 1998 which is what caused the destruction they live in today. The way the story plays out it seems to be like the Walking Dead only with Aliens we have not seen yet. Maybe this will be a noticeable title for Oni that sticks out in the minds of many comic fans if taken in the right direction. I would recommend this if you want to spare some time to breeze through its pages. Otherwise you could pass on this title.

Invincible #67

We Left off with the Space Racer about to kill Omni-Man & Allen. They are trying to reason with the Space Racer to come with them back to the Coalition stronghold and show him they are fighting against the Viltrum. A few pages in Omni & Allen head to the planet inhabited by the Rognarr. The plan was to attempt a capture of these creatures to use in the fight. Although due to the mishap of the of the ships bridge they helped thaw out the frozen monsters. Things take a turn for the worse as they have to defend themselves from the Rognarr. More dialogue goes on with no action in this issue either. Sorry to say I do like Kirkman's Walking Dead, but I just can't seem to get interested in this title. As the same with the Wolfman title. If you are an Invincible fan then this is a no brainer buy. If you are not a fan though pass on this title it is rather drab.

John Constantine - Hellblazer #260

A child lies motionless in a bed as a father weeps over her sickness. He talks to his two goons to find him John Constantine. He holds him personally responsible for his daughters current situation. As Constantine walks through the streets back to his flat, he is looking for something until he is disturbed by footstep running up the stairs. Things occur and John needs to get some documents to leave the country and head to India. Things don't work out as planned at the airport and John has to save Chas from Terry's evil hands. The story goes on to have an interesting ending. This was a worth while read not like that Batman unseen issue I read. I would recommend checking out this issue.

Escape from Wonderland #2

We see a child in a dark cave who is being watched by the Mad Hatter. The Hatter is talking to someone else who we do not see. Hatter is looking for his sister. The story then changes course to a woman fighting a monster. Things get strange and then she wake up in a cemetery talking to a rabbit. The comic slows down with the battle scenes and we cut to the dialogue. There is a really nice drawing of a demonic looking Cheshire cat. The monster that saved her takes her to the realm of the Jabberwocky to see about her missing daughter. This issue was interesting to take a gander at. If you have some extra money I would recommend this as an extra read. If not you can pass this issue by, however at least look at the Cheshire cat work in the middle of the book.

Batman Unseen #2

Batman sits on top of a building as a man speaks to us about becoming invisible. Things seem to go well for this man as he starts to harass the innocent shop owners of Gotham. Black Mask sits in his office as his henchmen come to tell him the news of the invisible person who is terrorizing the shop keepers of Gotham. They converse with Mask and inform him that one of the keepers has pretty much been torn to pieces as an example of this lunatics "hunger". The story goes on with a heap of dialogue that does not bore but is another long winded issue. I would not recommend this issue, pass this one by.

Dark Avengers #10

A Country road in Dinosaur Colorado is the opening scene for this story. Two girls are stopping off at a diner. One tries to contact her ex-boyfriend to let him know that she is leaving him. The other orders two coffees as two strange men at the counter whisper to her to get out of the diner. A small fight scene occurs with Ares and then it is back to the tower with these Avengers. We find out that one of the missing girls is the secretary of states daughter who calls in a personal favor to Osborn. This story is long winded but is worth the read surprisingly I would recommend this issue it has a good twist to the end of the book.

Punisher Noir #3

The story picks up where we left off. It is 1935 Christmas time and a little boy is sitting on Dutch Schultz Santa's lap telling him what he would like for Xmas. Detective Soap shows up to start questioning the Dutchman about some things. The scene then changes to Coney Island after Soap is done speaking with Dutch. Cuda is with a woman on the Cyclone, unbeknownst to him Frank waits in the darkness. Wearing his fathers mask Cuda and Frank start to duke it out. After blowing up the Wonder Wheel Frank takes Cuda captive to find out who the woman was involved in his fathers death. Frank tracks Jigsaw down to Chicago to try and get the drop on him. This story line is coming down to the wire the final issue is next month. This continues to be a title that does not disappoint, I would recommend this issue to read.

Grimm Fairy Tales #42

The story opens up with some history of a witch called Baba Yaga. We see her home perched upon chicken legs as skulls and bones make a perimeter fence around her home. We see her two horsemen henchmen chasing a woman through the woods. The woman Alexa summons a Minotaur to try and help her battle the Horsemen, however things don't pan out the way she planed. This is an interesting story not worth purchasing but if you have time to sit down at your local shop, and this is there to read I would take a gander at it.

Wolverine Origins #41

Wolverine is on a motorcycle traveling to destroy the Throne that way he can beat Romulus. Wolverine stops off at a junk yard to see Bruce Banner about something. As he tries to persuade Banner in the old Logan type fashion he is reintroduced to Skaar. After being kicked into another state we see Logan impaled on a tree which puts him in a tight position. Two human civilians try to lend him a hand and help him get back on his feet. The son however has another plan on his mind and decides to call FBI Seattle headquarters. Romulus contacts some people to try and take care of Wolverine, however they are in for a surprise. This issue was a good read and I would recommend picking up this issue since it starts the "7 The Hard Way" story line.

Power Girl #6

We pick up where the last issue left off, with Power Girl about to fight the three alien women from the ship. Power Girl stops the man who is trying to capture the ladies and brings him back to Coney Island to get the details on what's going on. After trying to find the ladies with no luck our heroine heads back to Coney Island to speak to the man once again. To her surprise he has escaped, the day progresses and she decides to retire home for the evening when she finds out she has a stalker who knows her true identity. Things play out well for this story and it was an enjoyable read. I would recommend this issue if you have read the last one.

X-Men Legacy #228

Nowhere is the setting for this story. We see Bling held captive in Emplate's sanctuary. Back on Utopia the X-Men are trying to find the dimensional hole which Emplate came through that way they can try to save Bling. Rouge comes up with a plan to borrow Hope's powers that way she can travel through the portal and try to save Bling. Bling is imprisoned in a cell and has been after fed on by Emplate. Some more dialogue goes on for a few pages with no action at all in this issue. This was a dreadfully dull read. I would pass this one by totally. Do not even give it a second glance it is not worth the money.

Superman #3 - Blackest Night

Smallville is the setting as we open up this story. Krypto looks to the sky as we then see Kara battling with one of the Black Lanterns back on New Krypton. Superman & Conner are battling it out due to the Psycho Pirate's spell. Martha is trying to get away from Lois to try an idea she has to stop her. Krypto come to Martha's aid and bites off the Lois Lantern's hand to bring Martha the ring. The pages continue to explode with violence against the Black Lanterns until the very end. There is also a surprise that Clark and Conner figure out pertaining to the rings. This was a very well written issue and I would recommend it.

Deadpool: Merc With A Mouth #4

Deadpool is back to the Savage Land on a mission to get a bio-weapon for A.I.M. He and Betty his A.I.M contact are running away from a T-Rex as well as Hydra soldiers who are also looking for the weapon. There is a whole lot of dialogue going on in this issue, however it is not something very interesting. With the drab one liners this issue tries to be funny but comes up short. I would definitely pass on this issue.

Dark Wolverine #79 (Dark Reign)

Daken is where we last left him attempting to arrest some miscreants with out injury. Unfortunately things do not go according to Osborn's plan. The next few pages have an ongoing fight scene until Daken is face to face with the female criminal. They converse about how she should kill Wolverine she does not saying the he is not the real Wolverine. They get the upper hand on him with some strange weapon which impairs his fighting abilities. Doolin & Magnum decided to call Osborn and dangle a proposition over his head. Honestly this was an issue with a lot of dialogue, personally I did not find myself very interested in this issue as I did the last. I would pass on this title, unless you are a true fan. Save your money for something a little more worth while.

Anna Mercury #2

Anna is lying on a operating table as we open to the first page. Waking up and realizing she is in a situation she defends herself from the surgeons trying to operate on her. The next few panels explode with some very gruesome graphic fight scenes. Anna speaks to the command central who are informing her about the hostages that are held up on the one hundredth floor. Anna gets to a room where the people of authority are and starts to ask questions about what's going on. This was a rather good comic and I am looking to see where Anna's quest goes. I would recommend this issue.

Hellboy - The Wild Hunt #7

We pick up where out last issue left off, with Hellboy conversing with this mystical woman. As she continues to inform him he is a descendant of Arthur he cannot believe. Hellboy decided to go and check up on Vasilisa. They speak and as he decides to get some rest he is abruptly awoken by the sound of the Wild Hunt. The next few pages explode with violence as Hellboy fights the alternate version of him self which jumps out of a mirror. He then snaps out of his trance like state to see what he has done. This is a very good read despite the Burial of Katharine Baker whose story I did not enjoy. If you are willing to spend 2.99 then I would say it's worth it. I would recommend this issue.

The Walking Dead #66

We pick up where we left off Rick is face to face with the cannibalistic leader in the woods. Rick tells the other to grab the leader and put him on the picnic table. Rick and the others take car of the situation and the Father tries to make them feel bad about what they did. Rick and him have a little face to face which quickly shuts the priest up. Rick heads back to camp to check on the others and to see what Dale wanted to speak with him about. The story has an uncomfortable but fantastic piece of art between Rick and Carl as well. If you have been following this title then this is a no brainer purchase. If not and you wanted to see what is going on I would recommend this issue even though this is the end of a story arc, or you could wait until issue 67.

The Uncanny X-Men #516

A man is captured hanging above a pit of monsters. Another gentleman is letting him know what he would like of him, if he fails to cooperate he will be eaten by the monsters. In the next page we see Magneto coming down to Utopia to speak with Scott. As e flash back to the man who is captive he is informed that he is needed as a messenger to deliver some cargo. Some deep dialogue commences between Scott and Erik after Scott realizes that he is not a threat at the moment. Things are starting to come to a boiling point here, the story line is very interesting and we may see a reappearance of a certain time traveler. I would definitely recommend this issue it was great as compared to the other X-men titles which I could not make it half way through they were so boring. Astonish X-Men 31.

Batgirl #3

I know I did not review the last Batgirl and that is because it was such a painful read for me to write about. I am going to give this series a second chance with this issue. An old abandoned Hospital is were out heroine is analyzing the situation. Getting prepared to face the Scarecrow in the facility. A fantastic fight scene goes on for a few panels as Batgirl tries to fight off the thrill drug. The Scarecrow and her battle it out and then the police show up.In typical Bat fashion she throws a smoke screen to get out of that situation safe and sound. Luckily this issue redeemed itself and was something enjoyable. Not like Secret Six or Green lantern Corps which I did not enjoy I decided not to review them in case of fans that like those titles. However if you have some extra cash and you want to pick up another DC title this is a decent one I would recommend.

Deadpool #900

Deadpool is driving a car full of dead bodies to Chico as he meet with some unexpected guests. The Merc with the mouth is in hot water now that he has been abducted by Aliens. These ugly critters did not know what they were getting themselves into when they abducted Deadpool but they will be in for quite a surprise. The second story is with few words however it reminds me of the villains from the movie "A Clock Work Orange". The fight scene goes on for a few panels then ends with Mr. Wilson gaining his hearing back. The next story has Ol' deadpool seeking professional help which has a laugh or two in the dialogue. There are mores stories since there are one hundred pages in this issue. All in all this was an enjoyable read for the price I would recommend it.

Nomad #2 Girl without a world

Rikki is thinking of her old life when her brother was a villain and when she first met Captain America. The scene then changes to the present day where her and John are sitting down at a fast food restaurant conversing about things. All of a sudden an explosion happens and this lame excuse for a villain named the Flag-Smasher comes into the scene. Falcon shows up to lend a hand to Rikki and ask why she is wearing the Nomad costume. We see Desmond Daniels causing a ruckus in the cafeteria as Rikki watches on not convinced with his speeches. Things between her and John become awkward and it seems things may take a turn for the worse. This is coming to be a very good story line as I said with the last issue. I would recommend this issue to read.

Batman #3

Batman is furious with the Black Lanterns as he attempts to land the Batwing somewhere safe. After crashing into the cemetery they try to regroup and plan what to do next. Batman sends the Deadman to go and recruit the Demon Etrigan as phase one of his plan. Red Robin & Batman face up to their nightmares incarnate and take care of some old business. As they figure out a way to get rid of the Lanterns it seems things are starting to get worse. This story was worth while I just don't think it is worth purchasing. If you can get a chance to read it in your local shop though just to keep up with the story line I would recommend doing that.

The Marvels Project #3

The setting is Coney Island 1940, the Cyclone is in the background. We then shift to Greenwich Village A woman sits in a private eye's office. She is trying to find her mother with unsuccessful help from the police department. In Uptown Manhattan a General meets with a man regarding a new Government project they want him to help out with. We get a great classic showdown between the Torch and Namor, a nice retrospect of the 1940 Marvel Mystery Comics #9 issue. It is nice to see a new take on a classic story line. This is coming together nicely as i continue to enjoy this story line. I would recommend this issue to read.

North 40 #4

A gruesome image of a zombie french kissing a human is what we look forward to seeing as we open the book. The monsters are biting and tearing some of the humans apart in the first few pages. A lot of action and violence is going on which I find entertaining. As the new Deputy shows up to the zombie party we see him take care of business, then head back with the woman from the previous issue who speaks to the mystic. They converse about a few things and then the Deputy is off leaving the woman to get in contact with the mystic. There seems to be an ulterior motive between the mystic and the strange woman but we will have to see how the story unfolds. Even though this is a story line you would have to catch from the very beginning I would still recommend this issue. This is a very good title and I hope it plays out till the end well.

Secret Warriors #1

Nick Fury is in a car with another gentleman named Garrett. Nick Fury sneaks into the Stark building to get to Osborn. We see a comparison of the list Osborn has compared to Fury's which will make you snicker. Fury offers Osborn his help and we see agents of H.A.M.M.E.R busting in on a man to capture him. We get some great artwork and action that pops up in the middle of the book. Then we see what Fury snuck in to obtain from Osborn. Even though this was a one shot McGuninness's artwork and Hickman's writing make this an enjoyable one. If you have some extra cash to spend after you purchase your primary titles I would recommend this one for fun.

Justice League #4

Let me just start off saying I know some other sites have said the last issue of this series was bad and not worth reading. I happened to enjoy the last story however if you choose not to read this at least take the time to look at the artwork or you will really be missing something special. As the Justice League survives the explosion from Prometheus they are trying to figure out what his plan consists of. We see Miss Martian defending herself, Bill & Mik in a rumble as well. Some wonderfully illustrated panels just flow through the pages with such elaborate lighting effects on the characters. We get some witty punch lines through the story, but I am still going to back this title. Maybe it is the artwork that is captivating me but I really do enjoy reading this title. I would recommend this issue even if other sites say other wise.

Irredeemable #7

This story opens up with Plutonian smashing someone's head into a wall. As he is being man handled he is reminiscing of a time where he helped Plutonian. A time when something went wrong, a time when he helped clean up a very serious mess. A time when he came across something very strange and had not seen again until recently. I have never read an Irredeemable comic before but it reminds me a little like the story line of the Boys. There is a really nice piece of art work in this issue when he goes to sit on the Moon to get away from the noise it has a small similarity to the Watchmen when Dr. Manhattan goes to Mars. This was an enjoyable issue with a nice story line I was able to follow despite never reading an issue before. I would recommend this issue.

Vengeance of the Moon Knight #2

Sentry and Moon Knight stand on top of a building in the opening page. He drags Moon Knight around the city to tell him he will fail as a hero. We see Osborn arguing with the Hood about Moon Knight, and wants this issue taken care of. We get a page or two of action and then it calms down to more dialogue. This issue however I must say was good but not as enjoyable as the first issue. I guess we will see how things progress for the Moon Knight. If you read the first issue I would recommend picking up this issue to see how you feel about it. If you have not picked this title up then pass on this issue.

Ultimate Spider-Man #3

Mysterio has uploaded a video to the internet informing them about the Kingpin's demise. We see Johnny talking to Aunt May about what happened to his parents. We get a humorous page with Peter getting yelled at by his boss for sleeping on the job. As giant spider creatures attack the city we see Mysterio working his magic of illusions to terrorize the people on the street, as he attends to his ulterior motives. The writing in this story line is just as enjoyable as the first issue. I would recommend this issue. If you have not read this story line then I would recommend trying to find a back issue and check it out I think you'll enjoy.

Crossed #7

This comic opens up with a very gruesome and graphic image of a man singing leading a bunch of lunatics holding a severed male organ in his left hand. Two people are camped out over the mountains watching these crazed individuals come through. They warn the other survivors and head down the road away from the lunatics. They continue to walk towards a river they have on the map until they get ambushed from someone shooting at them. As good as the story line is some people I know can stomach the graphic language and violence. I however can and will say it is an enjoyable read. If you can handle torture movies like Saw and Hostel then this should not be a problem for you. I do recommend this issue just not to the younger crowd. 18+ here is what I would recommend would be the appropriate age for this comic.

Batman and Robin #5

A close up of Sasha's eyes is the first panel of the story. We get a short glimpse into Sasha's past. Penguin makes an armed escape out of the window, we see Red Hood aiming his weapons at Batman & Robin. Red Hood informs Batman who he is and what his plans are. Robin attempts to confront him unsuccessfully and gets himself in a small situation. A couple of pages in we see what happened to the Flamingo and his plane. It is an unsettling situation for the officers on the scene. There is just so much going on in the first few pages of this issue. This is turning out to be a very good story with these characters I would recommend this issue to read.

Deadpool #16

We pick up where we left off in issue 15. Deadpool is trying to get into the X-men and Cyclops says no to his request. As he heads back to the main land upset with what happened he tries to pass by the court house where news reporters are blocking the way. They are trying to find out the judgment the court had in regards to the return of this man's daughter from Utopia. As the X-men inform Domino that they would like her to chaperone Deadpool. He decides to join the X-men after Domino's proposal into the team on one condition. This is now becoming something I am enjoying I think the writing has become better then some of the previous issues I read but did not even decided to review. I would recommend this issue.

Wolverine - Weapon X #5

We see Wolverine tied down to a chair held captive by Gertrude. She interrogates him about Blackguard and leaving these certain individuals alone. After he tells her in typical Wolverine fashion she lets him leave. He heads to a doctor who has a dead Blackguard solider on his table dead to find out some more information. Then we see Wolverine show up in an Apache helicopter ready to stir up some trouble. We get a personal moment with his inner thoughts about something that scares him which is a side we do not see often from this character. As he takes care of business he then decides to go on a mission to find out who put the Weapon X files on the black market for sale. Having not read a Weapon X comic in a very long time this was one I thought was worth it. I would recommend this issue.

The Astounding Wolfman #18

United States Pentagon is opening setting for this story. A woman sits patiently in the lobby waiting for something. A man sits down to inform her there will be no more questioning. We then move along to Construct's safe house where we see Wolfman informing The Face & the other team mates on the escape plans he has arranged for them. Cecil sends another wolf to try and pretend to kill Wolfman in order to give him a communicator so he can be updated on what is going on. This is the second time I have tried to get interested in this title but I just can't seem to get into the moment. I personally did not enjoy this issue and would pass, but if you are a Wolfman fan then I assume this would be a no-brainer.

The Unknown #1

This story is about a Detective Catherine Allingham who handles obscure cases regarding what happens to us when we die. The reason why she is so profoundly interested in these cases is because she had only six months to live which was one year ago. Her former partner James Doyle is trying to pick up a job in Italy regarding a house that seems to be haunted. Upon his interview he finds out that Catherine would be the woman he would be helping to protect. That is when things start to become interesting. This book was a fantastic read a little hidden gem among the other comic titles. The twist ending is really satisfying it does leave you wanting to know where things are going for this story. If you see this title in your comic store and you like stories regarding the paranormal and mystery then I would recommend picking up this title. I am looking forward to the next issue as long as my comic shop gets it in.

Gotham City Sirens #4 (Batman Reborn)

A television broadcasting some shows is in the first few panels which is then smashed by a boxing glove. A wonderfully done splash page of an upset Joker is what we see on the next page. The Joker informs his henchmen that there is a green light on Harley Quinn. Hush is parading around Gotham with Harley because he has alternate plans for her. While Selina and Ivy are trying to get into the location that Hush has Harley in. The joke's on him though when a not too pleased Joker blimp shows up to ruin his plans. I really like Guillem March's art in this series. The only thing I thought was campy is the Joker mobile towards the end of the book. I would recommend this issue to read.

Hulk #15

This story picks up where it left off with Domino sitting in a bar with the X-Force awaiting the Hulk's arrival. As everyone squares off preparing for battle we have a tension building in the first few panels. Then next pages are filled with action between the Hulk's hired guns and the X-force. This was a better issue than the Thunderbolts I enjoyed this very much and Ian Churchill's artwork is something I have come to enjoy. There is a surprise twist at the end of this book. I would recommend this issue to read.

Thunderbolts - Dark Reign #136

The Thunderbolts are in Nick Fury's secret base of operations. Songbird and Black Widow are captives of the Thunderbolts. As they prepare their hit the Headsman is informed to cut off Songbirds head. Things go wrong and we see some action packed panels for a few pages. Ghost appears in a scene to help clean up the mess that has happened, and a spying Ant-man knows the truth behind it all. As the Widow makes her escape they steal an M-Rap which I have a feeling someone is watching Lock N Load with R.Lee Ermey since I saw the recent episode on that vehicle myself. This was a story line that did not captivate me at all. As with most of the Marvel titles I have been reading to me it seems like there is just a bunch of bad story lines. I don't know if it is because they are rushing things out to still dominate the market. Or the merger with Disney is making the writing even worse. But I wish Marvel would take the time to re-think everything and pace their stories so they will be more worth while. This is an issue I would pass on.

Titans - Blackest Night #2

Titans tower Donna is face to face with Terry and her son. Frightened as she tries to hold Robbie the baby bites into her neck. The next page explodes with action as the Titans are trying to fight off the Black Lantern Terra & Lilith. The scene then jumps over to Washington D.C. where we see Holly dead from her heart being ripped out of her chest. Things turn for the worse as the story continues Bart tries to help Donna and more Lanterns show up to kill the TItans. This was an alright issue that is readable. Not as good as Green Lantern though.

Green Lantern - Blackest Night #46

Zamaron is the planet we are on in the opening page of this story. The Black Lanterns are on this planet destroying the crystals of this planet. As Sinestro tries to free members of his corps he is greeted by a Black Lantern as well. The Lanterns seem to have dominated this planet as every other page is filled with action. After the Green Lantern shows up things get out of hand and the Indigo grabs Sinestro and brings him back to Korugar to face Mongul. This issue was packed with great art and action to the very end. I would definitely recommend this issue.

Ghostbusters #1 "Displaced Aggression"

Just in case I missed this last week here is the review. A man in a horse drawn carriage is being chased by something. Until Venkman shows up to vaporize the ghosts that are haunting this man. Peter we find out has been banished to one of the four corners of time as well as the other Ghostbusters by Gozer's father Koza'Rai. Now he dwells in this old western town which is plagued by ghosts. Things move along and Peter gets himself into a predicament until a female with a Ghostbuster uniform and proton pack helps out. This was something I was hoping would be better being a Ghostbusters fan myself. However this is a big disappointment. Poorly written the pun that are attempted are lame for lack of a better word. The idea of the story could be better with some more thought put into the actual dialog. I just hope if they do make another Ghostbusters movie they don't see any inspiration in this title. I would pass on this comic.

Gotham City Sirens #2

In case I missed this issue last week. Three years ago Catwoman is standing behind Talia in a dark candle lit room. Guards with arrows hide in the rafters above them with their arrows pointed directly at Catwoman. Talia offers her something that would suppress the memories of Batman's true identity should enemies of his come to get the truth out of them. As she drifts into unconsciousness he dream abruptly stops due to a bad recollection. When she wakes out of her hallucination an armed Harley Quinn stands before her as Poison Ivy sits on the couch. They have her tied up as they try to find out who is Batman. As the story continues it is a well written plot line for these women. I am enjoying this title from DC and I hope that they story does not dwindle away into something less than what it currently is. I would recommend this issue.

Wasteland Issue #26

In case I missed this last week here is the review. We see Yan on the first page standing in the middle of this rubble. Six months ago is the setting Yan stops to speak with the Primate. They are conversing about what Yan saw the Primate do. Some of the other slaves show up and one of them has a message for Yan from his father. When Yan becomes an Artisans servant he finds out things and pieces together a puzzle that seems to be unfolding in this issue. Never having a chance to read this hard to find comic in my area I would say this was a good read and would recommend it.

John Constantine / Hellblazer #259 - The Cottage

Violet Cottage is the first panel setting of this story. John prepares for the witching hour removing the necessary tools that are in his bag. As he tries to invoke someone named Phoebe we flash back to a night club in Chelsea 2007. The flashback is rather explicit with profanity which once again is for mature readers only. The gritty artwork adds a nice touch to the comic although the story line is not captivating enough to make me look forward to the next issue. I would not recommend this issue.

The Incredible Hulk #602

This story opens up with Skaar and Bruce sitting in a diner having a milk shake. Then the Juggernaut shows up due to Bruce blowing up his house. The fight then breaks out and for a few panels the fight continues with minimal dialog. Even with the great artwork and the She Hulk story I just don't see this as something to go out and buy. I would not recommend on picking up this issue.

Power Girl #5

There is an explosion in the park as Power Girl heads up to the roof to change into her outfit someone is watching her. She heads over to the top of the ship that crashed to make sure everything is fine when the cannon goes off. Some women stop outside of the ship and are met by a police officer who is trying to arrest them. The ship explodes and Power Girl is knocked out for a short moment. Then a we see a cat getting a bath which I found rather funny the expressions the artist gives the cat. This issue was something worth while not ever reading a Power Girl comic in quite some time this was enjoyable and I would recommend this issue.

Tales from Wonderland - Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum

Wonderland is where this story opens up. We see a man standing in a doorway with a bloody sledge hammer. I do believe one of the Tweedle brothers is lying on the ground pleading for his life as the man prepares to hit him with the sledge hammer. We then flash to the real world at a baseball game a father named Tony is watching his son play. His son's team wins and while the people in the neighborhood are complementing him on his sons accomplishments he gets enraged and decides to take it out on his teenage son when they get home. After the beating they decide to go an move a mirror for a neighbor, when things go wrong Tony's son decided to push his abusive father through the looking glass. Tony starts to turn into Tweedle Dum he treks off to look for some food. This is not for children to read even though it is a nice take to see what could happen in an alternate world to some one who abuses a child regardless of his age. If you see this one check it out to see if you like it.

The Amazing Spider-Man #606

New York Upper East side, we see Madame Web sitting in a chair strapped down as a prisoner. We then see Peter and his roommate arguing over how messy he is. Some a was a little taken back to see the comments that were said to his Puerto Rican female roommate. I would never to have expected some of the sarcastic remarks which were jotted down into the frame. Black Cat shows up as Spidey is talking to a culprit trying to dangle him from a gargoyle until the police come get him. With some sexual references that occur this is something I would not recommend for a young child to read, this issue is mediocre and not worth the money.

Darkness Pitt #2

Jackie is watching television in his home with Pitt and Tim. Jackie heads into the next room where Pitt is and they converse over some things. While they are in the house conversing, the house is being watched by people outside who have information on Jackie and Tim. Some men with guns lurk in the bushes watching Pitt and Jackie on his terrace as more drop down to the roof from helicopters. A few humorous moments occur in the next few panels as Pitt describes why the virus likes out planet. Keown's art work is still as fantastic as I remember it. This is still a treat to read and if you like the Pitt or even if you don't I would recommend this to read. There is humor and action mixed with fantastic artwork.

Invincible #66

We pick up this story in outer space. We are being told about Planet Viltrum and the history of its empire. It is explained to us that the Scourge Virus was made to over power and control them. The conquering of Earth was part of the plan for the surviving Viltrum's since human DNA is almost compatible with Viltrum's for the process of turning the planet into a breeding camp. The rouge Viltrum and Allen head to the base for the Coalition of Planets to meet with Thaedus to to speak about things that may occur. The story goes on with some more details and nice artwork. This was something I would recommend to read even though Invincible is not in this story.

No Hero #7

I have the first few issues of this comic and it has been a very good read although this is a hard title to find in your local comic shop as are all the Avatar comics. Once again I try to show all the different covers and in doing so the colors are off I do apologize for that. This is not for the children to read this is a very violent and graphic comic book. Carver comes into the house looking for his partner when he is greeted by this mysterious monster of a man with his spine protruding through his stomach. The next few panels are rather gruesome and bloody. Some extremely detailed and violent scenes are depicted. There is not much I can say about this issue there is an abundance of profanity and violence. Despite that it is a well done comic if you can handle the images. We find out later the name of the monstrous man is Josh Carver who is property of the FBI and was raised by the serial killer who took the life of his family. Carrick and Josh are face to face conversing about how FX takes control over ones body. If you have a weak stomach I would not recommend reading this but if you can handle gore and can find this at your local comic shop breeze through it to see if you like the issue.

Giant Sized Wolverine Old Man Logan #1

The Hulk Gang's Watering Hole is how we open up this story. Rufus and Woody are conversing about the meal they were not allowed to eat. To Woody's surprise he turns around to say something else to Rufus, however Rufus is not seen by Woody right away. We are then watching what is currently occurring is Sonny Starks bar with the other Hulk's. When the lights go out Logan catches them by surprise. There is a panel on the page that is horrifyingly gruesome and fantastic to look at. We see Logan infiltrate the Banner hideout and to see an old Bruce Banner fight Logan is rather humorous and nostalgic. The next few panels explode with violence and blood it is something that a young child should not be reading. This was a good read especially since I was not able to read the Origins issues when they first come out. I would recommend picking this on up.

Superman #2 Blackest Night

Smallville, the morning sun peaks over the mountain top. A man is in a barber shop getting a haircut. The next page is a wonderfully done splash page of Superman fighting the Black Lantern Kal-L. Then we see the Psycho Pirate introduced. He starts to turn the town amok. Superman & Superboy have a quick bought before we are shown the events happening on new Krypton. All in all this was a very good read I would recommend this issue.

The Walking Dead #65

Everyone is in the house Glen is having his leg worked on while Dale is on conscious. Andrea Sits with Dale now he is awake and they converse over some things. Rick speaks with Gabriel to find out about town within walking distance. As Rick and the gang head toward the houses they her a noise. We see the cannibals conversing with the scout they sent out to watch Rick and the Church. Rick tries to come to an agreement with the cannibals, but nothing prevails. This is a heavily conversation issue going on here. It was an enjoyable issue though. I would recommend it if you are a true Walking Dead fan.
